W. A. Calderhead to Governor John St. John

Item Description Bookbag Share

Marysville, Kan.,  May 8th  1880

Hon. Jno. P. St. John.

Governor

Sir.

In your kind letter of Mar. 24th you intimated that you would perhaps be able to visit our part of the State within two months, And since then, E.B. Reynolds under auspices of the State Temp. Asso. has visited us and said perhaps you could come about the 20th of this month.

We desire to hold a County Convention of Temperance people and it would be desirable to hold it at the time of your

visit if it can be made convenient.  We do not desire to make any unnecessary demands upon the time which belongs to your office duties, but only make the request that if consistent with your public duties, we may have the pleasure and honor of your presence, to give an impulse to our campaign in favor of the Constl. Amendt.

Permit us to add that there is a general expression of hearty approval of your administration as Governor, by the people of this section in addition to the special esteem of the Temperance people,

I write on behalf of the Temperance Union of Marysville and subscribe myself

Very Respectfully

W. A. Calderhead
