Item Description Bookbag Share

Ellsworth, Kas., April 9th  1880

Hon J.P. St. John

Topeka -

Dear Sir

Your favor of April 6th was recd yesterday- We are gratified to learn that you are coming to our town soon.  Ellsworth is quite Metropolitan and has its board of trade

In case of your visiting us it is understood & arranged that you be received by the board of trade:  Some remarks pertinent to the general objects of the Board of trade

separate from your address on the Constitutional Amendment would perhaps be expected.  We believe in getting as much out of our Governor as possible.  I think Ellsworth & its board of trade would spread itself on this occasion of your visit

If the petition was not sufficiently signed I could forward you this remonstrance against license with the majority of our citizens names upon it.  Hoping to hear from you soon naming a day

I remain with respect

Yours Sincerely

Theodore Sternberg

P.S.  I write this myself as all my private secretaries are out of town
