This is a photograph of Dr. Karl Menninger and Dr. Roy Menninger at the outdoor celebration of Dr. Karl's 90th birthday. They are on the Menninger West Campus in Topeka, Kansas. The sculpture "The Vital Balance" is in the background. It is named for one of Dr. Karl's books. The sculptor was John Whitfield. The Seeley Conference Center is in the far background. Dr. C.F. Menninger and his sons, Dr. Karl and Dr. Will, founded the Menninger Clinic for mental-health treatment, education, research, and prevention in Topeka. Dr. Bob, son of Dr. Karl, and Dr. Roy and Dr. Walt, sons of Dr. Will, continued in the leadership of the Clinic.
