To Hrs Excellency,

Governor St. John,

Dear Sir:

As Secretary of the Franklin Co. Christian Temperance Union, I take pleasure in forwarding to you the following resolutions unanimously adopted at a meeting of the Union held in our city last evening:

Resolved 1. That the Franklin Co. Temperance Union hereby express their hearty commendation of the temperance sentiments proclaimed by Gov. St. John in his late inaugural message.

2. That while we would prefer direct prohibiting legislation, we, yet, would urge upon our Senator, P.P. Harris, & our Representatives James Bobb, & J.A. Fowle to use every honorable means in their power to secure

the amendment recommended by the Governor."
