George W.T. Cass to Governor John St. John

Item Description Bookbag Share

Bloomington, Ind 1-27/79.

Governor St John:

Dear Sr

I have just read the first of your messages relating to Temperance & I desire in the name of truth and in behalf of suffering humanity, to thank you for these firm & [xxxxx] utterances.

Right is Right

Since God is God,

And the Right will surely win.

To doubt is disloyalty, to falter if to sink.

I write you with the more freedom, because you were (if history says truth) once of my state, and, I once of yours (at Emporia).  My son is now a citizen of your state's farmer, Butler Co

You  have an enterprising progressive people, "men that make a State".

[Page 2]

Wishing you, your State and the cause of Temperance great Success, I remain respectfully & Truly Yours,

Geo. W.T. Cass, Prof.

Eng. Literature, Ind. University
