1 The History of Pvt. Dorsey O. Turner Pvt Dorsey Olin Turner of Co D. 353 Inf. American E. F. U. S. Army of 89th Division, was born Aug. 17, 1892. near Achilles, Rawlins, county, Kansas. He attended the country school of District 37 until her graduated, then attended one year at the Rawlins County High School. then he taught school for four years with good success. He was called to help uncle Sam April 29, 1918.and went to Camp Funston where he remained until June then sailed for France. Gen. Wood was his General

2 at Funston. In France his company was trained at the town of Manors, which is about 18 miles from Chaumont where General Pershing was. located In Chaumont is where they paraded July 14, and that picture is showed on the movies in the U. S. On Aug. 3rd, they started for the front lines trenches and entered them Aug 6th. and held the lines until Aug. 14 when they dropped back for a rest. Then he went to Base 45 Hospital at Toul France, where he remained for 21 days

3 He helped to fight along the Meuse River Front and the in the St. Miheil and the Arrogonne Forest. and also in fields, forests, ravines, hills and barbed wire entanglements. and was there when the Armistire was signed. March They started to march from Stenway France, and marched through Belguim, Luxenberg, and into Germany. He has tried to do his very best for Uncle Sam, country and Flag. He is the son of Mr and

4 Mrs Robert Turner of Ceres. Calif. and is the brother of two sisters and four brothers. He is loved by everyone who knows him and is a friend to all.  He owns a homestead near Sherdian Lake, Kiowa Colo. Pvt. Dorsey O Turner is still with the U.S. Army in Germany and hopes to return to good. old U. S. A soon. Written by his Sweetheart Miss Eva Shepley.
