In 1954, the Topeka Owls were affiliated with the Chicago White Sox and finished first in their league with a record of 87-51. Players in the photograph are (left to right) front row batboys Phil Baker, Kendal Hutchinson and Larry Ruggles; second row Charlie Schaffernoth, Louie Perez, Dave Hill, Phil Brown, Dick DeLozier, Mel Rainey, Frank Hamlin, Bob Lowe, and Bob Melson; back row Ned Johnson, Dick Sczymczak, Jerry Olesko, Ty Braziel, Darell Lindley, Ray Posipanka, John Trombold, Dick Means, Lee DeWan, and Ira Hutchinson, manager.
