The Ceramic Art Company produced this vase between 1897 and 1898 in Trenton, New Jersey. The company, now known as Lenox, began in 1889 as a partnership between Walter Scott Lenox and Jonathan Coxon. Functioning more as an art studio than a factory, they employed a small group of artists. This vase was part of the company's offering of undecorated shapes, produced for use by professional and amateur china decorators.
