Fund raising quilt in Primrose Path pattern, with over 300 names embroidered on the top. Cotton quilt is made up of 42 blocks, each composed of over 70 tiny pieces. Made by Anna Black Hutchin as a fund raiser for the Grand Army of the Republic, the veterans organization for Union Civil War soldiers. It took Hutchin three years to complete the bedcover. A fee was assessed for each name embroidered on the quilt, raising the sum of $198. Hutchin donated the finished quilt to the LaCygne Circle No. 132 of the Ladies of the G.A.R. That group then sold the quilt to Mary Campbell for $100. Campbell's money came from a Liberty Loan Bond that had been purchased by her son Francis during World War I before he left to fight in France, where he was killed. The quilt raised a total of $298 for the R. B. Mitchell Post No. 170 to build a Memorial Hall in LaCygne, Kansas.
