The Golden State Limited was a partnership venture between the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad and the Southern Pacific Railroad. It provided express passenger service from Los Angeles to Chicago. It made its first run on October 2, 1902. The westbound Golden State was known as No. 3 while the eastbound was No. 4.
