A photograph of Earl Barnes at age 10 months. He was born August 22, 1889 in Eustis, Florida, but apparently had relatives in Arkansas City, Kansas, where the photograph was taken. In 1894, he was placed in the Home of the Innocents, an Episcopal Orphanage in Louisville, Kentucky. When he turned five, he went to the Orphanage of the Good Shepherd. After leaving the orphanage, he worked on Thomas Yann's farm in Louisville, Kentucky. He joined the army and served in World War I. After leaving the army, he went to Salt Lake City, Utah.
