Commemorative quilt incorporating a variety of pieced and appliqued figures, blocks, and text. The unique design includes appliquéd and pieced angels flanking a small banner reading "OVER 13,000 QUILTS DOCUMENTED." The bottom depicts a scene from a Quilt Discovery Day event sponsored by the Kansas Quilt Project (KQP). Two enameled KQP pins are secured to the white field. This scene is enclosed on three sides by old Album Patch blocks inscribed by KQP participants. Tied and hand-quilted. This quilt was made by Terry Thompson Evans, a KQP volunteer, quilter, writer, and fabric designer, for display at Quilt Discovery Day events in 1988. The Kansas Quilt Project was founded in 1986 to collect quilt histories and establish a repository for the resulting data at the Kansas Historical Society. Quilt Discovery Days were held all over the state (72 in all) to which the public brought their quilts to be registered.
