String quilt made up of 64 small striped squares in a variety of wool and silk fabrics. Each small block incorporates eight to nine narrow parallel strips pieced to an underlying foundation of tan/white checked cotton fabric. Hand-pieced in an all-over set without sashing or border. Bound in off-white wool crepe. Backing is pink/white checked cotton. This baby quilt was made for Neva Stevens Wiley by her great-great-grandmother, "Grandma Beech," who was in her 90s and living in Wisconsin at the time. All five children in the Stevens family used the quilt at their home in Norton County, Kansas.
