These five black and white photographs show the wreckage from the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad's Golden State Limited No. 4 east of Topeka, Kansas. The steam locomotive struck a stalled vehicle on the tracks that resulted in the derailment of its engine, two baggage cars and a mail car. There were no reported injuries from the accident.
