Cowboy boots manufactured by the Hyer Boot Company of Olathe, Kansas. These boots feature Kansas symbols, including stitched wheat and sunflowers, and inlays of Jayhawks (the mascot for the University of Kansas). Their original owner is unknown. The Hyer Boot Company was founded circa 1880 by brothers Charles and Edward Hyer. Tradition credits Charles Hyer as one of the first to invent the cowboy boot. The company thrived throughout the early decades of the 20th century, and was known to make boots for western movie and rodeo stars. It operated in Kansas until 1977.
