This item contains several pages of entries taken from the diary of Richard F. Blinn, who lost his wife and child in an 1868 Cheyenne raid. The diary entries detail Richard Blinn's activities following the deaths of his wife and child. One entry, from February 6, 1868, mentions that Blinn managed to "get Clara's shoes and a piece of her dress and some of Willie's hair." Relating that he had been well treated by the local U.S. Army officers who he turned to for help in receiving some sort of compensation from the Cheyenne for the deaths of Clara and Willie, Blinn states that "all I want is enough to get Tomb stones for my family."
