Mr Simerwell

Dear Sir

Before this reaches you, Mr McCoy will have been at Carey & informed, that the premises you occupy are not to be valued this season.  We wish a suitable care taken of them, the crops on the ground secured, &c &c but cannot afford to keep up a large establishment as heretofore; the expense wod be far too great, & more especially as there is some prospect that we may not be able to retain the $2000 Miami Treaty annuity beyond the present year.  You will of course labor to reduce the expenses as much as practicable, & lessen the outstanding debts.  Your accounts have been receivd & are passing examination as usual.

Our regular Board meeting does not occur till the 6th of next month, but as you may be in want of funds to pay off debts &c, I venture to say that you may draw on our Treasurer for five hundred dollars, & the money will be appropriated to meet it.  Besides the Treasurer has authority to procure the articles you sent for, & will doubtless soon have some or all of them on the way to the station by way of Detroit.  He will doubtless write you, as soon as he ships them.  You say the school is not large & under all the circumstances, having but little help & expecting in a year or two to remove, we have no anxiety to encrease it.  We shod rejoice to hear of some conversions among the children, & are glad to learn that some of the laborers are turned to God.

It is not yet certain but Mr Lincoln may visit you this summer, but whether he does or not, I wish you to inform of the wants of the station in bedding, clothing, yarns, (cotton & Woolen), hats, stockings, shoes &c, that from the box is sent in, we may be able to make some selections, & keep back what is not wanted by you.

Hoping soon to hear from you, I remain

Truly yours L. Bolles

P.S. Give our kind regards to Mrs Simerwell.
