Millard Spencer enlisted in the United States Army in approximately 1957 and served until 1959 in the 190th Medical Detachment. Interviewed by Nancy L. Porter on September 18, 2007, Spencer talked about military experiences post World War II. Spencer was born in Lost Springs, Kansas, on June 26, 1928. He did his basic training at Fort Sam Houston an was sent to Germany. After his military service, he practiced in Liberal, Kansas, and , for 25 years, in Topeka, Kansas. He was a radiologist. The 2005 Kansas Legislature passed a bill funding the WWII Veterans Oral History grant program. This transcript is from one of the community institutions receiving grants. The transcript of the interview is presented here; the original video copy of the interview is available through the Watkins Community Museum of History (Lawrence) and through the Kansas State Historical Society.
