A photograph of Henry Isely, a resident of Brown County, Kansas, where he owned farm land. In addition to farming, Isely became involved in politics and in 1872, he was elected Township Clerk of Walnut Township, Brown County, Kansas. In 1873, he was elected County Clerk of Brown County and reelected in 1875 and 1877. Isely ran for Kansas House of Representatives in 1882 and was elected by a sixty vote majority. In 1883, he was elected to the Kansas Senate.
