This sepia colored photograph shows the mural of "knowledge" located on the fourth floor, under the east side of the, capitol dome in Topeka, Kansas. The panel was completed in 1902 under the supervision of painter Abner Crossman at a cost of $7,600 dollars. The fresco panel depicts the allegorical figure of "Knowledge" holding an open book in her lap. To her right, "Temperance" is pouring from a pitcher and on the left is "Religion" with a bible in hand and a cross at her side.
