This card, issued by the U.S. Marshall, District of Kansas, is similar to many issued during World War I to German Americans that had not yet attained U.S. citizenship. This card, in particular, permits Vena Peters Schock to pass through areas that were otherwise forbidden to anyone regarded as a resident Alien.
Date: 1918
This permit can be used in conjunction with other material on the experience of German Americans during World War I to help students understand the difficulties non-naturalized citizens faced during the conflict.
