Hillman Hull was drafted into the Navy in 1944 and served until 1946, primarily in the military government on Guam. He was recalled for the Korean War and served on the USS Bradford, a destroyer. He was interviewed by Suzette McCord-Rogers on Feb 7, 2007, and Hull talked about his military experiences in the Second World War and the Korean War. He was born in Morrison, Oklahoma, on August 20, 1025. His father worked for Skelly Oil so he lived in various places in Kansas growing up. He graduated from Troy High School. He used the G. I. Bill to attend Highland Junior College and taught in rural schools for several years. He joined the staff of the 1st Bank of Troy in 1959 and worked there until 1990. The 2005 Kansas Legislature passed a bill funding the WWII Veterans Oral History grant program. This transcript is from one of the nine community institutions that received these grants. The transcript from the interview is presented here; the original video copy of the interview is available through the Doniphan County Historical Society (Troy) and through the Kansas State Historical Society.
