This is photograph show a view of the KAW movie theater, previously know as the Crystal, looking north on the east side of Kansas Ave. between Fourth and Fifth streets. This area of Topeka was part of the federal government's Urban Renewal program in the 1960's to rehabilitate aging and decaying inner cities either by massive demolition, derelict housing clearance, or development.
