My old Comrade and Friend

 

I am glad to see God in His Goodness has caused President Cleveland appointing you Governor of New Mexico.  I learned it from the morning Capitol and I prey God in Jesus’ name you may do your  [XXXX]  duty not in the name of man but Love of God.  As you did when U. S. Senator for Kansas for which you did suffer but God now has awarded you so came justice

to be done for no man in the right fears justice but O the Guilty do fear justice.  I pray the political civil lid may be nice not only in the Mountain district but all over my beloved country especially my State of Kansas.

 

Major  [XXXXX]  [XXXX]  designated  [XXXXXXX]  of Kansas an having a hard time as there is nothing to mean for the Republican party Leaders can do If they can do it but as fire purify  [XXXX]  so precaution purify man and parties and I say bring on McDuff + + + + + for I want to see who Probitionist from principle.  God grants even we who is not from principle may learn late.

We are trying to organize a State paper to be published at Topeka.  How Mr Mill succeeds I do not know, yet, but I pray God in Jesus’ Name Mr May succeed not only financially but political and morally so my Country May be benefit and God have the Praise.

 

I had the pleasure of meeting you at Fort Leavenworth last week.  At the Meeting of the State Committee of the Probition party.
