This black and white photograph shows the first Kafir Corn Carnival at El Dorado, Kansas. The first carnival was held, in 1911, to honor the hardy sorghum grain. The three-day celebration featured barbecues, parades, floats and elaborate exhibits of kafir corn. In 1928, the last carnival was held.
