A pen and ink sketch of Lewis Sheridan Leary a free black man in North Carolina and follower of John Brown. The sketch was used as an illustration in Hinton's book, John Brown and His Men. Leary was shot during the raid at Harpers Ferry, Virginia (now West Virginia). He died due to his wounds received during the raid.
