This letter was written by Edward Thomson Fairchild, 1854-1917, to United States Senator Joseph Little Bristow, 1861-1944. Accompanying the letter are scores from a competitive examination held in the office of State Superintendent Fairchild. The examination results determined appointments to the United States military academies. Dwight David Eisenhower's scores are listed and his appointment to West Point is noted.
