This photograph shows three men identified from left to right as: J.O. Phillips, John Seirer, and Sidney Lawson, standing over the deceased body of bank robber Anthony McKee in Sylvan Grove, Kansas. In the afternoon of November 12, 1894, three armed men robbed the Sylvan State Bank of Sylvan Grove. As the robbers attempted to flee Mr. William D. Schernerhorn, assistant cashier of the bank, shot McKee with a Sharps rifle instantly killing McKee. Visible in the background is the bank (identified as the white building) and the blacksmith shop to the far right.

Bone handled steel table knife made by Marsh Brothers & Company between 1870 and 1879. It was owned by the Bender family who were known for killing travelers at their home near Cherryvale, Kansas in the 1870's. This knife was found in a clock at the home.

Bob and Grat Dalton

Bob and Grat Dalton

Law enforcement officers hold up the bodies of Bob and Grat Dalton, who had been killed during an attempted robbery of the C. M. Condon and Company Bank in Coffeyville, Kansas. Coffeyville citizens shot and killed four Dalton gang members as they tried to escape. Emmett Dalton was wounded, captured, and sentenced to life imprisonment.
