An evening with the stars, Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway

A small flyer announcing a lecture on the stars and sun by Mary Proctor, the daughter of a noted astronomer. Mary will use the Santa Fe's stereopticon, which has one of the finest lens ever made, to throw eighty-one pictures on the screen. She will be accompanied musically by Maud Haldane. The lecture and musical dramatization of the stars will be held at Carnegie Hall in Newton, Kansas, on Tuesday evening, April 4, 1911.

Bicknell for Governor '94

This political campaign brochure promotes Gene Bicknell, a businessman from Pittsburg, Kansas, and Senator Barbara Lawrence from Wichita, as the Republican candidates respectively for Kansas Governor and Lieutenant Governor. Their platform during the August 2, 1994 primary was to create more jobs, have safer streets, and provide quality education for future generations. Bicknell's vision for Kansas was met with defeat when fellow challenger Bill Graves won 40.91% of the popular vote to Bicknell's 28.24% in the primary.


California Limited

California Limited

A flyer published by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company encouraging travelers to take the passenger train the "California Limited" by way of the Grand Canyon. It states that the train will run from Chicago to Los Angeles via Grand Canyon, stopping at the canyon from morning until evening, daily during June and July.

Courier-Nurses are back on the Santa Fe

This flyer published by the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway Company promotes the return of the courier nurse to the passenger trains of the El Capitan and the Scout. The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company assigned registered nurses, known as couriers, to their passenger trains prior to World War II. With their return in 1947 the nurses resumed their responsibilities of attending to the medical needs of passengers and assisting with certain administrative duties or errands that required attention.

This demonstration train was operated by the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroad and the New Mexico A. & M. College in 1924. The schedule included meetings in 51 New Mexico locations over two weeks in February. The towns for the meetings and the speakers and demonstrators are listed on the flyer. The Santa Fe is providing the train and New Mexico A. & M. is providing the speakers and a livestock exhibit. Santa Fe representatives are J. D. Tinsley, Fred Hale, J. F. Jarrell, and A. M. Hove. New Mexico A. & M. professors involved with the train are O. C. Cunningham, M. C. Snell, A. L. Walker, and Fabian Garcia. College President H. L. Kent was going to be with the train part of the time.

This campaign flyer promotes Fred Kerr a former Majority Leader of the Kansas Senate and Connie Hubbell a member of the Kansas State Board of Education as the Republican candidates for Kansas Governor and Lt. Governor. Their platform during the August 2, 1994 primary was to give Kansans a "straight talk plan" by making government more efficient and accountable while stabilizing taxes and improving the quality of life. Kerr's plan of action was met with defeat when fellow challenger Bill Graves won 40.91% of the popular vote to Kerr's 22.47% in the primary.
