Jerry Moran

This is a formal portrait of Congressman Jerry Moran. A banker and lawyer from Hays, Kansas, Moran served eight years in the Kansas Senate, 1989-1996, before he sought and won Kansas' first congressional district in 1996. The first congressional district a predominately rural area, consist of sixty nine counties and is referred to as "the Big First". Advocating on behalf of Kansas' rural communities has given Moran the opportunity in Congress to be actively involved as a senior member of the House Agricluture Committee and a ranking member of the subcommittee on General Farm Commodities and Risk Management. In addition, he is a member of the House Committee of Veterans' Affairs and the House Committee of Transporation and Infrastructure. Moran's commiment to preserving the values of rural America, is further demonstrated through his involvment with the Rural Health Care Coalition and the Congressional Caucus to Fight and Control Methamphetamine.

United States Senator Jerry Moran

This is a photograph of United States Senator Jerry Moran who was raised in Plainville, Kansas. He attended Fort Hays State University and later the University of Kansas, where he completed a degree in economics in 1979. After an early career as a small town banker, he received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1982. Prior to his election to the Senate in November 2010, Moran served Kansans in the First Congressional District for seven terms and eight years in the Kansas State Senate. While in the Senate, he has served on the Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, Appropriations Committee, and Veterans' Affairs Committee.
