This black and white photograph shows a view of the depot at Zeandale, Kansas. Located along the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad eight miles east of Manhattan, Kansas. The town founded, in 1855, was named from a combination of the Greek word "Zea" meaning corn and the English word "dale" by one of it's early settlers Josiah H. Pillsbury.

This is a Rock Island Railroad promotional advertisement in the form of a monthly calendar detailing the various major routes of the line. The first image shows a photographic transparency of the poster taken in the 1960s when the poster was still in good condition. The second image shows a recent scan of the original poster and the resulting deterioration over the last forty years.

A flyer produced by the Rock Island Railway comparing their No.999 locomotive of 1913 with No. 999 of the Empire State Express in 1893. Pictures of both locomotives and comparison by engine weight, size of cylinders, boiler pressure and other areas included. The 1913 locomotive was manufactured by the American Locomotive Company.

This brochure advertises the Rock Island Railway's various lines to California. Included are The Golden State Limited, Rocky Mountain Limited, the Californian, Colorado-California Express and the Colorado Flyer. Timetables and descriptions are given for each of the lines.

This flyer advertises the dates that the Chicago, Rock Island, and Pacific Railroad Company "Wheat Festival Special" will visit numerous Kansas towns along its route. It will in Kansas August 2 through 7, 1926. The train is operated in cooperation with the Kansas Agricultural College, the Kansas State Board of Agriculture, the Kansas State Grain Inspection Department, the Southwestern Wheat Improvement Association, the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and the Kansas Public Service Commission. The flyer lists speakers and their topics. Miss Vada Watson, the Kansas Wheat Queen, is one of the "special attractions" accompanying the train. A. W Large is in charge of the train for the railroad company.
