105 Kansas County Quilt

Commemorative quilt made by the Woman's Kansas Day Club, with a separate block for every one of Kansas's 105 counties. Each block was made by a representative from that county. The quilt was then constructed, bordered, and bound by staff at Topeka's Stitching Traditions Quilt Shop and custom machine quilted by Topeka's A Touch of Class Quilting.

Two photographs showing the 4th of July parade on Main Street in Eskridge, Kansas. The first photograph is a view of the east side of Main Street looking toward the intersection of 1st and Main. The town of Eskridge had moved to this location only six years before this photo was taken. The second photograph, looking south on Main Street from 1st Avenue, is a rare view of the west side of Main Street prior to the 1890 fire which destroyed all of the block down to the Trusler Building. In 1913, fire destroyed the exact same portion of that block. In this view, a re-enactment of Bill Cole's Last Ride, a story of Indians attacking Cole and the Smith boys, who were overland mail carriers.

This is a program for Redpath Vawter Chautauqua held in Laurens, Iowa. The program includes information on artists and acts including Phillips Sisters Orchestra, John G. Abraham, Edna Means, Black and White Minstrels Filipino Jackies, Governor George A. Carlson, Robert Burlen, Colonial Players and Singers, and Pattison Kline. The program also contains a performance schedule. Chautauquas brought entertainment and culture to communities featuring speakers, teachers, musicians, entertainers, preachers and specialists of the day. Chautauquas expanded and spread throughout rural America until the mid-1920s.

This panoramic view shows the west side of the 600 and 700 blocks of South Kansas Avenue, Topeka, Kansas. Businesses visible in the photograph are: Palace Clothing Company, Central National Bank, F. W. Woolworth Company 5-10 and 15 Cent Store, Hall Printing and Stationery, and S.S. Kresge Company. The buildings and light poles are decorated for Christmas and there are automobiles parked on the street.
