This is a photograph showing the Swartz Grocery and Beach & Scott Auto Salvage located in Council Grove, Kansas. This building was damaged in the 1929 flood and rebuilt as shown in this photograph. In the 1941 flood, two thirds of the building's north side was entirely washed away and this included the center section and the north building. The flood waters at this location were 10 feet deep.
