This photograph shows an elevated view of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company depot in Dodge City, Kansas. The two-story red-brick structure, built in 1898, and designed in the Richardsonian-Romanesque style includes a passenger depot and railroad offices. In 2000, the building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the building operates as an Amtrack stop but service is limited to two daily trains.

This is a photograph of a patient learning biofeedback to control hand warmth, which aids in relieving headaches or blood pressure. Elmer Green, PhD, established the Psychophysiology Laboratory, Research Department at the Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas. He directed the Menninger Voluntary Controls Program for research, clinical application, and teaching in biofeedback and psychophysiologic self regulation.

Bison Scapula Hoes from the Tobias Site, 14RC8

These bison scapula hoes were recovered from excavations during the 1977 and 1978 Kansas Archeology Training Program field schools at the Tobias site in Rice County. The makers of the hoes removed the long spine that runs the length of the scapula (shoulder blade), beveled and sharpened the edge, and hafted it to a handle. The Tobias site is a Great Bend aspect (ancestral Wichita) village that had dense artifact deposits (including chain mail), house remains and numerous deep trash-filled storage pits. The site is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

This brochure is from John Carlin's first gubernatorial campaign, in 1978, against Governor Robert Bennett. The brochure includes a brief biographical sketch of Carlin, quotations that Kansas government needs to be more responsive to citizens, and statements claiming that his opponent, has raised property taxes too much. Carlin went on to defeat Governor Bennet in the November general election.

NOTE: In the letter, Frost refers to the election of David Overmeyer as Governor of Kansas but that is incorrect. He was a candidate for that office several times.

Shown are five photographs of the excavations during the 1977 and 1978 Kansas Archeology Training Program field schools at the Tobias site in Rice County. Shown are Kansas Anthropological Association volunteers excavating at the site, a view from within a storage pit, an excavation unit with bison scapula hoe fragments exposed, and an over view of the excavations. The Tobias site is a Great Bend aspect (ancestral Wichita) village that had dense artifact deposits (including chain mail brought to Kansas by sixteenth-century Spanish explorers), house remains and numerous deep trash-filled storage pits. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

This political poster shows Governor John Carlin's first gubernatorial race against Governor Robert Bennett. The poster depicts a Kansas taxpayer who needs "Help" from soaring state expenditures. The solution offered by Democratic candidate John Carlin is to put a lid on taxes and spending. Carlin goes on to illustrate his political ideas through strategic images and brief political statements. The strategy paid off when Carlin was elected the fortieth governor of Kansas.

Hesston Corporation, an agricultural implement manufacturer from Hesston, Kansas, began sponsoring the national rodeo finals in 1975 with this series of collector belt buckles. The Hesston company continued to issue belt buckles through 1991 when the company was sold to AGCO Corporation.
