This poster provides the schedule for a Santa Fe railroad demonstration train titled "Better Wheat Special." It was travelling through Texas June 8 through June 13, 1925. It was a cooperative venture of the Santa Fe, Texas A. & M. College, and the Southwestern Wheat Improvement Association. Speakers from these organizations were listed on the poster and they would give presentations at the various stops. J. F. Jarrell, Manager of Agricultural Development for Santa Fe helped organize the train and he was one of the speakers.

This is a satirized edition of the Journal of the Kansas House of Representatives. The author warns "this is not to be taken seriously, or all at once." Representatives are mocked with names like Mr. Finnyfan, Mr. Nuthing, and Mr. Squeaker. The publication date is listed as February 29, 1925, which did not exist because 1925 was not a leap year.

Can't fix women's wages

The Kansas Court of Industrial relations is not empowered to determine minimum wage for women and minors in industry reads an article in the Kansas City Star. The constitutional right of the Industrial Court to fix wages continued for several years following the creation of the Court by a special session of the Kansas Legislature in 1921. Challenged by the Topeka Packing Company and the Topeka Laundry Company in the United States Supreme Court, the court was declared unconstitutional in 1925.

These photographs show Catharine Bratton Wright as a baby and as a young woman. She married William C. Menninger in 1925. They had three sons, Roy Wright, Philip Bratton, and William Walter. All three sons continued the Menninger Clinic in Topeka. The clinic was established in 1919 by Dr. C. F. Menninger and his sons, Dr. Will and Dr. Karl.

This photograph shows, Charles "Choc" Collins, prisoner 8827, of Cowley County, Kansas. He was convicted as an accessory to the crime after the fact and sentenced to one - five years. Collins was received into the Kansas State Penitentiary on February 12, 1925 and discharged December 18, 1928.

These letters are written by Charles Curtis and pulled from the Howel Jones and Ross Burns Collection. Charles Curtis was born January 25, 1860, in North Topeka, Kansas. He was descended from White Plume, chief of the Kaw Tribe, and Louis Pappan, one of the original settlers of North Topeka. He served as County Attorney from 1884-1889. In 1892, he was elected to the House of Representatives; he served in that body until his election to the Senate in 1907. He continued to serve in the Senate until his election to the vice-presidency under Herbert Hoover in 1928. He was the first Native American to be elected to national office. Howel Jones was a railroad officer; attorney; friend and senatorial campaign manager of Charles Curtis. His father-in-law is Ross Burns, who served in the Civil War in Battery A, 2nd Regiment of the Kansas State Militia.
