The L. W. (Leslie Winfield) Halbe photo collection consists of 1500 glass plate negatives produced by Halbe during his teenage years. Halbe lived in Dorrance, Russell County, Kansas, and began taking photographs of the region with an inexpensive Sears and Roebuck camera when he was fifteen years old.

This REO Speedwagon truck, purchased in 1917 and used in 1918, was used to deliver the mail on the Syracuse-Johnson-Elkhart (Kansas) mail run between 1913 and 1920. F.J. Henderson stands on the right, Alva Posey stands on the left.
