Interview on experiences in World War II

Drumm enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and served until 1949 on the U.S.S. Pennsyvania, Task Force One. Interviewed by Marian Poe on May 22, 2006, Drumm talked about military experiences in the Second World War. The 2005 Kansas Legislature passed a bill funding the WWII Veterans Oral History grant program. This transcript is from one of the community institutions receiving grants. The transcript of the interview is presented here; the original video copy of the interview is available through the Rice County Historical Society (Lyons) and through the Kansas State Historical Society.

These are panoramic photographs of Kansas towns beginning with Ada and ending with Bunker Hill. The Kansas Film Commission created the photos to promote Kansas locations to film companies. Many of the photographs show business districts and buildings. The panoramics were created by taking individual photos and taping them together. Towns and cities included in this part of the collection are: Independence, Industry, Ingalls, Iola, Jennings, Jewell, Johnson City, Kanopolis, Kanorado, Kansas City, Kincaid, Kingman, Kingsdown, Kinsley, Kirwin, LaCrosse, Lamont, Lancaster, Langdon, Larned, Lawrence, Leavenworth, Lebanon, Lebo, Lenora, Leon, Leoti, Lerado, Levant, Lexington, Liberty, Lincoln, Lindsborg, Linwood, Longford, Longton, and Ludell.

Date: between 1960 and 1970
Dale McKale (1916-2002) was a wheat and livestock farmer in Longford, Kansas. He purchased these Key brand denim overalls in Clay Center, Kansas in the 1960s. Key Industries, Inc. began in 1908 as Lakin-McKey Manufacturing Company in Ft. Scott, Kansas. In 1938, the company became Key Work Clothes, Inc., and today is Key Industries, Inc.
