This is a photograph of Reverend Ira D. Blanchard, who founded the Delaware Baptist Mission near Edwardsville, Kansas. He is credited with building the first residence in Wyandotte County, Kansas.

View of the Junius G. Groves residence in Edwardsville, Kansas. Groves, also known as the "potato king," was a potato farmer. He was so successful that the Union Pacific Railroad built a spur to his property because of his shipping quantity. Junius also founded the community of Groves Center and sold small tracts of land to African Americans.

Matilda and Junius Groves

This is a portrait of Matilda and Junius Groves, who were potato farmers near Edwardsville in Wyandotte County, Kansas. They farmed over 1,000 acres, and he was known as the "Potato King." The Groves shipped their produce all over the United States by railroad. Because of the quantity shipped, the Union Pacific placed a spur on the Groves' farm to load its produce. Junius Groves served as trustee for Western University in Quindaro, Kansas.

Elisabeth Stevens Morse reports on the situation at the Delaware Boarding School in Kansas to U.S. Indian Agent John Gill Pratt. In the four page letter Morse reports on the "condition and progress" of the Delaware Boarding School. At the time of her report, the school had ninety-six students in attendance.
