Around 1919, the Kansas State Historical Society and the American Legion solicited biographical information from returning veterans (primarily members of the 35th and 89th infantry divisions) and the families of those who died in service, notably from the Gold Star Mothers. Each veteran or family member was asked to provide letters, photographs, a biography, and military records. This file contains information on Algie McKinney, Company 32, 164th Depot Brigade. McKinney died on October 30, 1918.

Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway Company's steam locomotive #244

This black and white photograph shows engineer Jim Phillip greasing the wheels on the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway Company's steam locomotive #244 at Arkansas City, Kansas. The locomotive was built by the Schenectady Locomotive Works of Schenectady, New York, and was originally the Chicago, Kansas & Western #8. It was later renumbered San Francisco & San Joaquin Valley #202, and renumbered in 1900 as ATSF #46. It was scrapped for metal at San Bernardino, California, on June 26, 1922.
