Amy also includes an essay about the local history of Augustine township. The essay focuses on geographical features, violent deaths, and life in the early days of the township. This is one of several maps drawn by school children for a contest organized by Judge J. C. Ruppenthal of Russell, Kansas. The maps were to meet a "requirement of presenting historical data, together with excellence and accuracy of drawing."

These two bifaces and a single flake represent the artifacts collected from a workshop site in Logan County. The dark flake was manufactured on basalt and shows no other modification. The other two artifacts, both manufactured on a chert called Smoky Hill silicified chalk, show different stages in bifacial reduction.
