This silent film by an unknown photographer features various businesses and industries in Lawrence, Kansas. The film begins with children playing on a playground followed by an airplane landing at an airport. The photographer visits an airplane factory, the Wister Chevrolet Co. car dealer and repair shop, a roller skating rink, the L. T. Harris Co. Oil-O-Matic appliance dealer, a shooting range, a machine shop, an ice plant, the Hall Brothers truck lines, the Cadwell chick hatchery, and a restaurant. The film ends with a plane taking off from the airport.

This black and white photograph shows the Cedar Point Mill and Dam in Cedar Point, Kansas. The three and a half story native limestone structure was built in 1875 by abolitionist Orlo H. Drinkwater and his partner Peter Paul Schriver along the Cottonwood River. For a number of years flour was milled from the facility until operations came to a close in the early 1940s. In 2006, the site was nominated to the National Register of Historic Places.

Independent Salt mine, Kanopolis, Kansas

This twenty-three minute silent film documents salt mining in the 1950s at the Independent Salt Company in Kanopolis, Kansas. The film shows miners descending a mineshaft and drilling and cutting the mine "face." Then it shows the salt being moved to a rotating feeder-breaker that breaks the salt into smaller pieces. Finally, it shows the salt being loaded onto skips and hoisted to the surface through a shaft, and then dumped into bins in the mill building where it is sorted and loaded onto trucks.
