These two photographs show the C. H. Strieby residence in Council Grove, Kansas. The Strieby family started their blacksmith and wagon business on the Santa Fe Trail in the 1860s. The first photograph shows the house surrounded by a fence and flagstone sidewalk. C. H. Strieby built a total of seven houses in Council Grove.

The L. W. (Leslie Winfield) Halbe photo collection consists of 1500 glass plate negatives produced by Halbe during his teenage years. Halbe lived in Dorrance, Russell County, Kansas, and began taking photographs of the region with an inexpensive Sears and Roebuck camera when he was fifteen years old.

One photograph shows the building exterior before it was painted and the other shows the exterior after painting. The flagstone sidewalk and part of the office building housing Charles E. Lewis' insurance agency are also visible.

A photograph of the walking bridge on West Pottawatomie Street during the October 11, 1961 flood in Rossvlle, Kansas. This photograph is provided through a pilot project to host unique cultural heritage materials from local libraries on Kansas Memory and was accomplished by mutual agreement between the Northeast Kansas Library System, the Rossville Community Library, and the Kansas Historical Society.

This photograph shows exterior views of several Leavenworth businesses. Claude's Rexall Drugs in the Axa Building is on the corner. The front store window is partially covered with signs advertising items on sale. Other businesses visible are the Kiser Men's Wear store on the left, and the Rickey Jewelry store on the right. Part of the Woolworth store is visible. Two women and a child are seen standing near the corner of the building. A parked Chevrolet pickup truck is visible on the left, and a parked automobile is partially visible on the right side of the picture. Other modern features visible in the photograph include a traffic signal light with pedestrian crossing signals, two mailboxes, and parking meters.
