This is an Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad Company stock certificate. At the monthly director's meeting held, August 7, 1883, in Boston, MA, they approved issuing certificates of stock from number A.1 issued August 1, 1883, forward. The directors decided that certificates would be signed by the Assistant Secretary, countersigned by the Assistant Treasurer, and certified across the left end by the Comptroller. The shares were valued at $100 each and they were issued in the State of Kansas.

This Geneseo Town Company stock certificate issued to Samuel Arthur Crihfield by himself as he served as secretary of company. The town was located on the Missouri Pacific and Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe railroad lines.

The Golden Belt Town Company was incorporated in 1886. It was chartered to buy and sell land on the right of way of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway in south-central Kansas, including the communities of Waldeck, Durham, Tampa, Ramona, Lincolnville, Furley, and Peck. The company also owned an undivided one-half interest in the Lost Springs, Aulne, Elbing, Whitewater, and Gladys townsites. Mr. F. H. Kollock of Peabody, Kansas, was named president and served until his death in 1895, at which time Samuel T. Howe assumed the position. G. H. Blackwelder of Wichita was secretary, G. W. Hurd of Abilene was treasurer, and A. Clark of Peabody was general agent. These company records include director's minutes, correspondence, financial statements, land contracts and deeds, and several books containing applications for lots and price lists.

This blank share in the Osawatomie Town Company was signed by the secretary and by O. C. Brown, President. The document states that the town was chartered in January 1858, and on the side is a note declaring that Osawatomie was burned in 1856 and rebuilt in 1857.

The certificate indicates it is a temporary issue and that permanent certificates would be issued when the company organized permanently. The certificate is signed by W. Broadus Thompson, president, and Alex A. Jameson, secretary.

Date: July 8, 1857
The Delaware Town Company of Lawrence issued this certificate to validate Samuel F. Tappan's ownership of one share of town stock valued at $500. Investors in Delaware City promoted the town as the point on the Missouri River from which freight could be shipped to Lawrence most cheaply.

This certificate (no. 244) is made out to F. L. Crane. On the back was a notation made by Crane, probably at a later date, indicating that he had paid $250 for the share and that A. H. Reeder had intended that Pawnee be the state capital.
