These sepia colored photographs show the wreckage between two Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway steam locomotives east of north Topeka, Kansas. The accident occurred when oil train #185 collided into the construction train that was pulling six flat cars near the Kaw Valley school house about 2 miles north of the three bridge over Soldier Creek. At the time of the collision, there were approximately 60 to 70 section workers aboard the construction train. Many of the workers either escaped to safety or were severely injured, but seventeen of them were pronounced dead at the scene.

These black and white photographs show the wreckage between two Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway locomotives east of north Topeka, Kansas. These photographs show damage to the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company depot in Edgerton, Kansas. On October 31, 1948, a Santa Fe diesel freight engine with thirty-three cars hit the depot damaging the front of the building and a car parked nearby. No injuries were reported. Repairs were made to the wooden structure.

These two black and white photographs show the wreckage of a head on collision between steam locomotives #504 and #577 from the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad near Topeka, Kansas. The crew from the two locomotives escaped with only minor injuries, but four freight cars were destroyed and twenty-five head of horses were killed in the accident.

A photo album from Luella Lottie Norris, long-time educator in Strong City, Kansas. Lottie was a graduate of Emporia State Teachers College where she received her Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Education. She was an elementary school teacher from 1928 until her retirement in 1973, the last seven years of her career were spent with the Beloit Unified School District No. 273. Photos include school floats, a church building in Cottonwood Falls, industrial buildings, train wreck west of Strong City, flooding near the Cottonwood Bridge, a ranch view, and many photographs of Luella's students. Many of the student images have separated from their photo album holdings, the names of the students are on the photo album pages but there is no identification on the actual student photographs. Also included in the album is a photograph of a highway near Cassoday, Kansas; Waverly, Kansas during the summer of 1929; and 2308 Buchanan St. in Topeka, Kansas.
