This photograph is of CFO Edgar F. Cox to Dr. Mark L. Morris, Sr., founder of Hill's Pet Nutrition The inscription reads "To Dr. Morris with my sincere regards, Edgar F. Fox, Admiral Byrd's II Expedition, 1933-1935". Cox was born in Pinckneyville, Illinois, a veteran of WWI and WWII, and accompanied Admiral Richard E. Byrd on an expedition to the South Pole, where Cox oversaw the cattle which the explorer took with him to provide food.

Mark Loren Morris, Sr., DVM

This is a photograph of Dr. Mark L. Morris, Sr., DVM, who rose to notoriety for his advancements in pet nutrition. Born on November 18, 1900 in Adams County, Colorado, he earned a veterinary degree from Cornell University in 1926. He opened the Raritan Hospital for Animals in Edison, New Jersey, in 1928, being one of the few to focus his work on companion animals and their nutrition. Working with Rutgers University, Morris developed his first pet food by 1939. Maintaining supply and demand, Morris negotiated an agreement with Hill Packing Company in Topeka, Kansas. Morris continued his work with pet nutrition, passing on his passion to his son. Morris passed away on July 8, 1993 leaving behind a son to continue his work.

Mark L., Sr. and Louise M. Morris

This is a photograph of Dr. Mark L. Morris Sr., DVM and Louise M. Weber Morris who were married on December 21, 1928. Advancing pet nutrition, Dr. Morris and his wife developed a pet food which Mrs. Morris and three other women continued producing. Morris developed a production agreement with the Hill Packing Company in Topeka, Kansas. He continued to create formulas which Hill Packing Company produced, packaged and marketed. An active member of multiple organizations, Morris pioneered nutritional standards for pet foods.
