A letter on February 20, 1877, from H. Brandley, writes about a resolution adopted by the Kansas Senate. A letter from H. Brandley asks Governor Anthony to return House Bill no. 224 to the Senate House for further consideration. A letter on September 10, 1878, from B. F. Simpson, states on April 8, he accepted the appointment as U. S. Marshall and vacated his seat as State Senator.

A letter from William R. Carter, principal of the Topeka Industrial and Educational Institute, Topeka, Kansas, to Emily Howland, Sherwood, New York, educator and suffragist. Carter writes about the over crowding at the Topeka Industrial and Educational Institute, and their need of more living space for smaller girls. He tells Howland that they had to refuse at least 25 or 30 smaller girls because of the lack of room, and they can build their own stone cottage for $3,500; otherwise, it would cost $5,000.
