Shown here is the 1969 yearbook published by the Shawnee County Amateur Baseball Association, Inc. (SCABA), a youth baseball organization with facilities at Lake Shawnee in Topeka, Kansas. The yearbook includes photos of teams who participated in each of the SCABA age divisions offered in 1969--Minor League, Midget, Gopher, Pony, and Pony Express. Also identified are the championship teams in each league, as well as the team sponsors. Among the players pictured in the yearbook is Lon Kruger, the Silver Lake native who would become well-known for his basketball career, first as a player at Kansas State University, and later as a collegiate and NBA coach. In the summer of 1969, Kruger played for the Bluejays, the co-champions in SCABA's Pony Express League, and winner of the league tournament. Digital reproduction of the yearbook was accomplished through a joint project sponsored by the Kansas Historical Society and the Shawnee County Baseball Hall of Fame.

This year book comes from the Mark Elliott collection and covers the time period when Mark was active in the Shawnee County Amateur Baseball Association. Mark Elliott, originally from Silver Lake, Kansas, was the state-record holder for career home runs with 36 until it was broken in 2004 by another Silver Lake athlete, Josh Workman. He also went 8-0 as a pitcher in 1977 for the Silver Lake Eagles. Mark played football at Washburn University and was drafted in 1977 by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He spent three seasons in the minors, hitting .262 with 12 home runs. When he graduated from Silver Lake, Elliott also held the career record for passing yards with 5,525. He also was a well renowned golfer in Topeka, winning four straight City Stroke Play titles from 2007-10 and two straight City Match Play titles from 2007-08 in addition to numerous KGA titles. The son of former Washburn football and baseball coach Larry Elliott, Mark coached the Kansas State golf team from 1991-97.

This is a Secretary's Book from the Topeka Good Government Club. The Topeka Good Government Club existed in the first half of the twentieth century as a not-for-profit organization working for the maintenance of a Legislative Department that promoted laws and ordinances, for the betterment of women, children, and the home; civic betterment; legislation and national and educational topics. Besides the minutes for the years 1920 to 1924, this record also contains Topeka Good Government Club year books, membership lists, programs, and a copy of their constitution and by-laws. Martha Farnsworth was a member of the Topeka Good government Club and served in various roles within the club, which included the club's Correspondence Secretary.
