Railroad tie tongs

Railroad tie tongs
Date: between 1908 and 1950
These are steel railroad tie tongs. Workers used them in moving railroad ties in and out of place when laying track into place or removing it.. It was part of the Charles "Bud" Goebel collection, which was housed in the Burlingame, Kansas depot from 1963 until 1981.
