This photograph shows the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway Company's switcher engine #2301, a American Locomotive Company 600 horsepower high hood switcher, at Calwa, California. The switch engines or switchers were used to assemble and disassemble trains but were not used for long hauls.
