Mark Howard wrote from Hartford, Connecticut, to James B. Abbott. Howard enclosed a check with his letter, and asked Abbott "to expence this am't in such a manner as will procure the greatest quantity of arms and necessary munition." He and his local "Committee" were pleased to support Abbott as a "determined friend of right and freedom."
